Within today’s society, safe spaces for people to convene and release pressures experienced from racial tensions are far and few in between. Although this reality proves true across many racial groups, Chakra Healing for The Culture: A Meditation and Discussions Based Wellness Workshop for Blaxk Folx is a meetup group designed with the intention of holding a safe space for black and brown folk to gather, heal, and partake in group discussions centered around topics that address common issues related to racial stress black people experience while navigating within today’s society, with a special focus on Chakra balancing.

Chakra Healing for The Culture is a workshop series. With that being said, although each session is designed to be beneficial to participants who choose to come to only a few meet-ups, in effort to maximize experience and knowledge gained, participants are encouraged to attend every session as each session is also designed to build off each other in subtle yet unique ways. Another benefit to attending each session is to not only allot adaquate time to vent, but to vent productively, as the goal is to also find lightness from release through the art of reflection and conversation, and to experience love, peace, acceptance, and empowerment through group guided meditations.

(Note: Discussions are influenced by, but not limited to, the needs of participants, several scholarly research findings via professional studies on diversity and diversity trainings, as well as published articles and popular op-eds. Meditations and affirmations are influenced by, but not limited to, several spiritual practices spanning from the teachings of Reiki, Buddhism, Pantanjali's Yoga Sutras, and more.)

Instructor Bio: Ryan has been a Special Education teacher for the past seven years, teaching Reading Intervention, Social Emotional Learning, and Aiding students with ASD (Autism Spectrum DIsorder) at the Secondary level in Largo Maryland, North Philadelphia, and Washington, DC. Outside of the classroom setting, she is focused on bringing Yoga, meditation, and Reiki to the black community (primarily youth and those who identify as LGBTQIA ). She also services those who have experienced trauma and provides services both inside and outside of education establishments. In addition, she offers Yoga and meditation to educators and school employees. She is committed to helping promote and facilitate yogic and energetic wellness via private and group sessions and workshops in effort to influence authentic self-care and encourage a return to one’s true human essence.
